Kitchen Renovations – FAQs

This list of kitchen FAQs includes what most of our clients wonder about cost, timeline, project management, and permits for a kitchen renovation. Be sure to check out our Construction Process page or connect with our friendly team if you still have questions.

Once we have the plans and permits in place, the actual construction process should take around 10 weeks.

You bet. Planning and design are the most critical phases of a successful renovation.  We have great relationships with designers and drafting teams to help you start the process. We’ll work with you to understand your renovation desires, goals, and priorities.

Once your project starts a Project Manager will oversee the renovation. This will be your point person for all construction issues, questions and weekly client meetings.  You will also have access to the entire team through the company software plus an office manager for any financial questions and project updates. At Coleridge Construction, we stand by you every step of the way, from project inception to completion.  Leveraging our relationships with local vendors, we assist in navigating your selections.  Throughout the entire renovation journey, we serve as your guides, orchestrating the involvement of our reliable tradespeople and in-house team until the project reaches its conclusion.

We focus on good planning and work hard to have great communication and openness with our clients.  Client selections are all documented on our communication software, along with providing our clients with budget updates every two weeks.   Our end goal is to always give our clients a successful project and we work hard to build that into our approach as a team.

If your renovation involves significant alterations such as wall modifications, or other substantial changes in the kitchen, acquiring a municipal city permit is necessary.  We’ll help assist you through this process and handle the entire permit application procedure on your behalf.

A majority of our clients stay in their homes when a kitchen renovation is taking place.  Sometimes we can set up a temporary kitchen for them in a secondary room. At other times, homeowners choose to do a majority of their cooking outside. Overall, the decision will come down to personal preference. You will need to decide which path forward is less stressful for you and your family.

We take care of all the clean-up and disposal of materials for you during the whole renovation process.

The decision ultimately rests on your personal preference. Should you opt to preserve your cabinets for potential resale, we can delicately dismantle them on your behalf. It’s important to note that this meticulous removal process incurs additional costs, as it requires more time and effort. Often, the expenses associated with careful removal surpass the potential resale value of the cabinets. However, if this aligns with your preference, we are eager to further explore the option with you.

At Coleridge Construction we offer a 24-month warranty on all exterior cladding, caulking, windows and doors. We also offer a 12-month warranty for all electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and Interior finishing.

Yes, we have our preferred vendors that we enjoy working with when it comes to appliances. We’ll make sure you get connected with them, that way you get the appliances that you want and the right sizes to fit with your new cabinets. Once your appliances are selected, we finish the process by installing them for you.

Every kitchen is unique in its design, layout, and desired function, so we recommend getting cabinets made that perfectly fit into your kitchen space.

Once labour is added to the costs of your IKEA cabinets, we find that our reputable cabinet maker can easily match the costs. Overall, they will be able to provide better-quality cabinets. Before you choose to go with an IKEA kitchen, we recommend you stop in at our preferred cabinet shop: Ellis Cabinets in Abbotsford B.C.

Our number one recommendation for countertops would be quartz. You will get years of happiness out of this durable and beautiful countertop.
